The reason why armor no longer work as it should in IRM. |
While trying to fix armor in my mod, i found the reason why armor no longer stop small weapons fire. It seem Aaron changed his calculations again when he allowed damage resistance to stack. The change is that damage resistance is not used per weapon hit but per salvo. This mean the more weapons hit at once, the more damage get through since the damage resistance is applied to the total damage.
This completely mess up my armor system since ACs, in large enough numbers will damage any armor, no matter how many layers of it. So all that count is how many hits you do at once, so the more weapons you have, the better it is. So a unit hunter with 5 ACs beat one with 4 despite the one with 4 has 2 extra armor plates. This isn't what i had in mind when i made my mod.
Edit : Also, my old stacking system no longer works, multiplying the damage resistance by the armor plate count does nothing now.

Per volley, not Per shot now... Damn that's going to mess things up a lot. Well, do tell us how you're going to work around that once you figure it out. How to make big ships invincible to 100 Autocannon shots...
