Space Empires V General
Erm.
Probably done before, but these items really should be there somewhere.
- When combat starts, I want to know what ships are involved, atleast on MY side, and if scanners are good enough, whats coming.
- In combat, General ship orders. This game has way too many ships and stuff, to be mired down into microing every ship like this. Give us ' ALL FORWARD' 'HUNT' 'ALL STOP' etc orders.
- Fleets are useless. They serve no real purpose other than for order. Get rid of the stupid formations, replace them with something more useful, like fleet orders for ships. 'ie protect big ship' 'skirmish' etc.
Thank you
Janster

Re: A few wishes for SE V
Fleets will be useful when you get into battles of a hundred ships or more. The task forces become individual units to control so you don't have to fiddle every last ship in the fleet. And the formations will be useful when the fleets in combat are large enough, but you are right, they aren't much help otherwise.
And the whole preemptive viewing of ships in combat is already on the wishlist. Hasn't be implemented yet. I think it needs hardcode, but I could be wrong.
And this isn't a game of easy schmeezy organization. By default, no 4x game is, no matter how hard they try they still have a lot to keep up on. SEV is a massive 4x game when you're in later stages of a game across a big enough quadrant. If you really must, turn on ministers for your ships. I do it for population transports. Just set them to auto and the AI does it for me. Unless you practically want to just watch the game unfold, you will require a lot of fiddling and the longer and larger the game, the longer your turns will take to complete. There's no way around it.
