Hmm.. well.. I try to give my ships non standard names too, to throv the opponent off. An 'AntHill class Destroyer' is less descriptive to an oposite player then 'Missile Destroyer and DUC Destoyer'.

An opponent can get a lot from names of your ships... Strange names makes it less transparent for them Sticking out tongue Just make sure it works for you.

wow, i think that is very uncommon. how do you track all the individual ships?
or do you just name them for fun and use them in normal afterwards, so in bigger groups or fleets?

well it depends on there class and how long iv had em. like if iv had a cc or a bb thats bin around a long time i will use it as a "hero ship" and i do keep track of when thay where, when, and why thay where commisioned. i treat this like its real and each ship matters (not in a crazy whay its just how i like to roleplay) so that i can git a better grasp on what i need to do also if im making a fleet i theam the names to a certan commonality (like a place or city or objects) plus if you cant tell its exact class by the name i think it gives me a advantage

all in all i think it inriches the experance

Well.. it doesn't happen often I guess. But I'd imagine that if I had elite ships I'd give the elite ships names too to keep 'm apart. Make 'm my flagships Sticking out tongue
I think that's cool enough Smiling

I do sometimes name my worlds though Sticking out tongue

When I play against the AI, I often name all my ships, because I don't have that many. Plus it adds a roleplaying aspect like, "You bastards! You blew up the Bonaventure! I genocide you now!" But when playing against humans I have so many bloody ships it's easier to keep track of things when they don't have individual names. Except when I retrofit a whole bunch of ships. Man, does that get messy!

I always name all combat ships, not support ships

I think its really uncommon. I only name the class of the ship, so I have, as an example, the Retaliator MK1 Class, Fury Class, etc. Seems to me that naming every single fleet would require a lot of time Sticking out tongue

Against the AI I name every one of my ships. This little gem helps immensely.
