White Flashes |
I have been playing the game fine for 3 days... no problems.
My anti-virus ran a check and minimized SE5. I had to kill the SE5 process. There was a splash screen saying something about canvas could not draw.
I set the anti-virus to kick off at a time that I am normally am not playing a game. but SE5 is REALLY addictive, just like SE4 and Star Fury.
Now when I launch SE5 I get constant but random white flashes... I got them before now, just once or twice an hour or so. Now its once every 2-5 seconds. Its quite unplayable at this state. Its even on the initial full screen with "new game" "load game" and such.
HELP!

Space Empires 5, patched to 1.33, no mods, no extra ship sets

Re: White Flashes
It has something to do with your graphics card interfering with the direct X. My brother had the same problem playing the game and now just runs it windowed. We searched all over his computer for info on graphics cards but we couldn't find anything. Call us computer illeterate but I'm sure it is two different graphics programs running at the same time.

Re: White Flashes
Hit hard, hit fast and take no prisoners!
To find information about your graphics card right click my computer left click properties click hardware tab click device manager click display adapters (usually 3rd one down) this will list all display adapters on your system, if you have a graphics card fitted and also your motherboard has on board graphics I suggest you disable your onboard graphics, see if that helps.
Re: White Flashes
Don't use the latest (158.43) nVidia drivers, but try some of the previous ones; the white flashes went away for me in drivers over the last month or so but are back with a vengeance now with 158.43, just released yesterday or the day before.

Re: White Flashes
tried all the settings in the start up splash... rgb emulation, safe memory, different resolutions...
I went into my nvidia settings and tried a bunch of different settings...
I tried re-installing...
The one thing I have found that fixes the problem is if I run it in "windowed" mode... But it seems silly to run it at what i presume is 1024x768 window when my native resolution is 1680x1050...
