Left Over Drones |
I am wondering if anyone has a good technique for clearing out those pesky drones that are left over after a battle. They are fast as all get out and chasing them around seems to be a big waste of time. Even my fighters don't seem to be very effective at catching them. Unlike ships, they don't deconstruct once the enemy empire has been eradicated, so they are a feature of the landscape until the end of the game. I realize they don't do any harm, but they clutter up the map and I would like to get the "X" out of the stategic map once I have pacified the system.
Re: Left Over Drones
Drones are suposed to self distruct after they run out of suply but that little bug still needs adressing. If it worked you could just leave the residual drones around and wait for them to run out of suply. I think this fix is a good candidate for the next patch as its knowen but not yet fixed
Re: Left Over Drones
as the 1st comment suggested... if you occupy the hexes surrounding the drones, and then attack the drones, they cannot leave the field... and then you pick 'em off...
a bit o' micromanaging, but it does do the trick-
Re: Left Over Drones
You get them to run out of suplys by engaging them without in system resuply they will run out runing away from your units if they turn and attack you then you can shoot them down the only problem is that drones dont seem to use suplys and dont self distruct when they run out that I am aware off.

Re: Left Over Drones
Just build a faster Fighter. 18 engines should be more than enough even if they are Ion. You have probably already found that they aren't going to run out of supplies. And surround them is pointless when they continue to evade your existing fighters.

Re: Left Over Drones
Like I said. Fast light fighters. You don't have to play a tedious game that requires you to circle the drones and you don't have to play a chase game. A small squadron of fast light fighters can destroy all drones and if any escape you attack the few that remain in the same turn with the same squadron. Battles are over quickly. But to each their own.

Re: Left Over Drones
try deploying your fighters in a ring around the drones before battle maybe?
