This may have been asked before but what the heck, here goes:

Does the value gained from cultural acheivement techs warrant even bothering to research them?

Or is your valueable research time and points better spent elsewhere?

Yes it does as far as I am concerned in that they give you up to a 20% bonus to and are and though expensive are worth getting especially economics which reduces maintenance cost, mathematics which increases research and sociology which increases war tolerance. They give you bonuses which you can’t get otherwise and which get applied globally without needing to build or upgrade facilities

They are that said not things you want to research early but midgame on wards definatly

It may not make sense to research them early, but they are definitely valuable. How else can you increase birth rates without building a medical facility in each system? or increase your research without upgrading facilities? In addition, there is no maintenance cost to do this!

i think his question really pertains to at what point does it make it worthwhile to research the cultural achievements, and probably addressing the one that improves research more than the others.

early in the game, the additional amount of research you generate through cultural achievement is insignificant- so you want to hold off on doing this research, until you are actually generating something substantial.

for the research cultural achievement, it takes a few years to re-coup the amount of points spent... but in the long haul, it pays itself off... when you can spend enough points to gain the cultural achievement quickly- that's when you should do it... you don't want to research it where it drags out to 2-3 years.

the other ones, has their own benefits, that save cost or improves infrastructure in the long run.

As with other areas, but especially in cultural achievements. there needs to be an indication of what you'll get when you research this area. Or at least a little better cause and effect than researching sporting, makes your people better athletes and therefore better soldiers...

SEV, more than a feeling.

I Want The 58th In My Sky And Raining Fire!!

bananafishbones has it partially right.

What I'm getting at is this...

In the early game when all I have is ( and I'm just throwing out these numbers as an example ) 100,000 research points I would give up one of my 'juevos' to have a 20% bonus! Unfortunately I can't afford the research time to bother with the cultural acheivement costs to attain that.

In the mid-game to late game when I'm pushing over 500,000+ research points I'm usually so far ahead of the A.I. anyway that bothering to pick up the 20% bonus is almost overkill.

So I'm finding it hard to convince myself of the actual necessity of these techs.

When I need them the most I cannot afford them, and by the time I can afford them, I really don't need them.

I suppose that in a way I consider cultural acheivement techs to be; at most; an affectation..just a way to personalize your own race based on how you feel they should develop.

See the help button. It lists what all the culture techs do.

For me, it's an excellent way to boost reproduction. Population management is fundamental~

Playing Touhou games (Go here if interested . No, nobody else is that good/insane as that replay). No rush for SE V bug fixing.
