Shipsets and A.I.

Submitted by lastofthelight on Thu, 2007-03-22 21:21. Space Empires V FAQs

Alright, so its possible to save and load empires within the game from inside the game setup menu - but thats different.

How does one put in custom shipsets into the game? Are these shipsets complete races? Or are they set up the same way as the Tarsus Defensive A.I. race?

I'm getting rather bored of some of the stock races, so I want a bit of spice and jazz, and this seems a good way to do it.

Alright, I found the awnser, and I include it here for any other Stupid Newbies (like me!) who may want it:

You just drop shipsets into the empires folder (just look around for it) - there will be a bunch of other such folders in it, with race names. Each shipset is really a /race/ - the shipset just comes with the race. (Or so it seems.)

I'm still not sure why the Tarsus mod is different; as all the custom shipsets/new empires need an AI script file, so....thats probably a different issue better directed at that mod thread.

But for the most part, its just a matter of dropping it in.

Where did you find the ship sets to download?
