Sentry Bug? |
Occasionally, I'll tell my ships to act as sentry's, and the game will pretend nothing has happened; i.e. I havn't given an order.
Anyone know if this is a bug or some feature I'm not aware of?
Re: Sentry Bug?
I'll see if I can duplicate this and send it in. I have the same problem. I put a ship on a warp point, tell it to Sentry, and the command doesn't engage.
The ship is in a system with the homeworld, and at least one Resupply Station. I thought it was just a bug, as I can't recall it working consistently.

Re: Sentry Bug?
What is the sentry command supposed to do? If it's sitting on a Warp point it will attack anything that comes through anyway.
SEV, more than a feeling.
Re: Sentry Bug?
Sentry wont work if enamy are near enough to be seen (in sensor range of any friendly in the same system) I have found no bugs with it exept that if ships are added to a sentried fleet they still show up as ships without orders. Sentry is most useful in making sure that ships without orders are genuinly doing nothing not just in reserve or defensive fleets at warpoints. it also tends to point up enamy intrusions if you have a good sensor net.

its useful if you use the "ships without orders" comment on the end turn box to make sure you have every ship doing something, sentry'd ships won't show up in that count and they also wont show up on the next previous ship without orders buttnes

Re: Sentry Bug?
The sentry order won't be registered if a) enemy ships/assets are in sensor range and b) the ship is low in supplies.
