Unstable stars: What's the deal?

Submitted by gnosis on Mon, 2007-03-12 08:38. Space Empires V General

I just noticed a while ago..

R they implemented in any way?

Or I can rest assured that they "work" like SE:IV ?

Just out of curiosity, can u mod events like these?

Since suns/planets can already be destroyed/created dynamically in-game one would think that it's very easy to do it.

If it's possible to check if a space object (like a star) has a certain ability, such as Star - Unstable, it should be possible to script in a star destroying event that would target these vulnerable stars.

This game doesn't take place over billions of years, the age between now and 100 years from now... even 500 on our star is literally nothing.

How about adding an event that says that you have x turns to star collapse, and add a component that has a stellar manipulation command to stabilize said star?

SE IV has just such an event, but the only way to stop the star from blowing up is to build a ringworld or sphereworld around it.

"Good morning, Pooh Bear," said Eeyore gloomily. "If it /is/ a good morning," he said. "Which I doubt," said he.

You can also blow up the star.
