Sudden death and other questions

Submitted by Benefactorix on Sun, 2007-03-11 08:04. Space Empires V FAQs

I am using the Steam version of SE:V and after playing some odd years I suddenly get a popup that all human players have been eliminated. I was rather surprised since I was actually winning the game for once on the highest difficulty. This is the first time I ever played this long (10 years or so) and I am thinking something of a demo setting or other strange You cannot play becaues you are a cheat thingy is doing this. Anyone having this problem and what should I do about it?

Second question is about smaller weapons improvement: Does this do anything at all if I upgrade it past level 1?

Third question: Is there a tech that decreases component sizes or is the only way to increase the number of components to a ship by researching higher level hulls?

Fourth question: How does crystal armor work with weapons that pierce shields? Will the armor still reflect it back into the shield and back again to the armor making a very complicated resonating effect that will explode my computer?

Thanks in advance!
Benefactorix.

One Apart from the fact that you can set a victory condition which doesn’t allow any one to win until a certain number of years have elapsed I can shed any light on this. Posibly this is a Steam bug as the steam game is slighly diferent from the other download version and the boxed game.

two In the stock game the level to which you have researched smaller weapons caps the level of weapons of the smaller versions for example if you had TL5 in smaller weapons and TL 10 in Capital Ship Missiles you would only get Missile pods (the small version of CSM's) at tl5 the same goes for every weapon type. It works similarly in many Mods but as most Mods change the tech tree a lot not always.

Three in the stock game yes. There is apparently a way of introducing Miniaturization but I have not seen it implemented and it would likely only be found in a MOD

Four don’t know but it wont 'splode your computer I do know that
