Sorry are you talking about Starfury or Space empires five and how far do you get into loading when you tried it. A bit more detail on your PC would also help

Other than that I would suggest uninstalling then reinstalling and repatching as it might be a faulty install of either the main program or the patch does happen occasionally with any program, but which isent likly to happen twice.

My first suggestion would be to change the settings to the min settings possible. I would set it to use RGB Emulation for the 3d Device (this seems like the most likely culprit to me). If you can play the game with the Emulation your video card is the issue, otherwise you'll've eliminated one possibility. Let us know how it works.

What kind of machine are you using? I have brand new dell Inspiron Laptop and I had a similar issue with the game at first. In my case I had to go to Setup on the main flash screen and select my specific Display Driver (instead of the generic "primary display driver".

I also had to select the exact screen resolution I was using (1280 X 800 X 32) and had to set the 3d Device to Direct3d HAL.

Last but not least I had to set the Video Memory Usage to Safe.

The end result is that the game plays in a windowed mode, but at least it plays! I wouldn't have picked setting it up like this but in retrospect I kind of like it as I can do other things in the background while I play....
