How do I capture a planet? |

Space Empires V General
Couple of queries.......
I have a Light Carrier with several fighters. How can I order my fighters to not attack the planet but capture it? Is it true if I capture the planet I can reverse engineer his facilities or is it I only get to use the ones I capture. Do some facilites get damaged re an invasion.
Can fighters alone capture a planet or do they need ground troops?
Are fighters the most effective to take planets?
Thanks Guys

fighters from a carrier can't be used to capture a planet as they will be launched into the space combat which precedes it unless they are in cargo and the ship has capture the planet orders in which case they wont be lunched but a landing shuttle will be when the ship gets close enough to the planet.
Not if you do tactical combat and you remember to edit Strategies in the Empire Options menu so that your strategies don't auto-launch everything.
Also, while I haven't tested this directly, rammming fighters onto a conolly makes them available for ground combat.

The fighters from cargo will then take part in the subsequent ground combat.
Fighters can take planets on their own but I prefer to use them with troops as troops will bulk out the numbers and will help maintain order after the battle fighters are not as good at riot suppression
