crew / life support |
i've noticed if i have crew quarters for say 400. but only need life support for 200. when i build my ship and it satisfies all the conditions, i have a crew of 400, eventho' my life support can only support 200.
not sure if this is really considered a bug... but something definitely a quirk.
if i only need a crew of 100, i think i should be able to have the option to crew it for 100; instead of automatically giving it the max crew. maybe give some small benefits for a regular crew and life support to just support the existing crew. for example smaller tonnage weight.
a slider bar to adjust quarters/life support up to the max it normally can support.
this way frigates don't have the same size crews as the battleships when tech goes up.

Yes...the epic story of the Imperium as one leads their people to glory. Getting to smash opposition and rise victoriously to command fleets of ships and technologies so powerful as to create and shatter even mighty black holes! And...
Ahem...the epic story, yes. I know.

Re: crew / life support
I don't think that a crew quarters capable of supporting 200 will actually staff 200 for a ship that just needs 100. So you are only using life support for 100 even if your life support system can support 200. Its pretty abstract and mostly unnecessay for gameplay. I alway thought that crew quarters, life support and the bridge should be part of the basic hull size. But that would put the ship controlling computer at a disadvantage. I only use crews for colony ships because they are much cheaper to use on a temporary ship.
