construction ships |
i think ships w/ spaceyards should be able to work on a construction project together, albeit with diminishing returns.
for example:
denote SC1 = construction points of ship 1, SC2 = construction points of ship 2, etc. ordered from most to least.
1st ship produces at 100% efficiency, 2 ships would produce at 1*SC1 + 2/3*SC2, 3 ships at 1*SC1 + 2/3*SC2 + 1/2* SC3
if the ships were helping out a planet w/ its construction it would be PC + ships calculation as above.
Re: construction ships
That was the way that SEIII worked in a way.
If I recall correctly, you used to pay the entire ship cost and a ship would appear in orbit with all its components damaged. At the end of the turn the repair capacity of the entire sector would be used to 'repair' what was in that sector.
In SEV and SEIV this still holds for repairs but ships come out of construction completely constructed using a "space yard build rate".
I like the idea that idle space yards add their rate on the planet below. However this would be horribly broken given the fact that you can build any number of ships and bases in a sector.

Re: construction ships
wasn't it true that on se4 when you did something like this it would have a ship in space that is being constructed and all the space yards there would complete it? IDK but I seem to remember something like that.
