I'm trying to change the AI to build more ground units and troop carriers. I've fiddled with the numbers in the function AI_Set_Race_Design_Types in Script_AI_GlobalSettings.txt but it doesn't seem to have helped. Is there somewhere else I should be looking?




I've glanced over the IRM purchasing system thread, but I don't need mine to be any smarter than the basic AI - just to build more troops and troopships than stock. Unfortunately, since 1.25 came out, the AI seems to be building a lot less of all ships (with the possible exception of colonisers) than it used to. I hope this is fixed when the next patch comes out.

Welcome to the woes of the "purchase system" of AI scripts. See "Making a purchasing system for IRM" for an idea of exactly how far we'd have to go before things look sane. To answer your question: you need to re-write the AI.
