Speaking of armour |

Seeing all these posts about armour I was just thinking shouldn't there be some type of armour that can stop armour skipping weapons. Just like there are phased shileds that can stop shield skiping weapons why not have some type of armour that can do that as well.
I would think that races that only want to research armour shouldn't be really heavily punished in such a way that they have to research shields.
Just a thought!

You might also need to go into DamageTypes.txt and make sure that the "Skips Armor" damage type does NOT have the "skips all armor" option set to true
Wasn't it more "can this weapon do anything against shields/armour?" than "can this weapon completely ignore shields/armour?" that you're thinking of?

Re: Speaking of armour
You can mod that in if you want...
Create a new armor component with whatever stats and tech reqs you desire, let's call it "Xentronium Armor" since xentronium in MOO2 ignored armor piercing effects... maybe we should make this one a ruins tech
Instead of the "Normal Armor" value for your "Is Armor" ability, give it a new one, say, "Hyper-Dense Armor"
Now add whatever value you just added to the ability, into the ShieldAndArmorTypes.txt file.
You might also need to go into DamageTypes.txt and make sure that the "Skips Armor" damage type does NOT have the "skips all armor" option set to true - I don't remember if it is set to true or if it's just set to false and the individual armor types it can skip are listed... if the former, you have to set it to false, list all the types it can skip (give them 100% penetration and 0% absorption), and leave Hyper-Dense Armor out of the list.
