Crash When Loading Save

Submitted by JeffGeorge on Sun, 2007-02-18 18:09. Star Fury General

I'm trying to load a saved game I've been playing and now I'm getting an error that it can't load the map, even though the map exists. The final error message is

TDirect3DxFile.Start - Can't find xfile

Anybody know what that means and how to fix it?

Is this the original game or a Mod?
That particular error comes when a file is missing from the 'XFiles' folders.
From example if you remove the 'human_fighter.X' file from that folder you will recreate the error. The 'x' file can be a ship, asteroid or planet.
If the 'x' file causing the problem is in that folder then it could be either missing or misspelled from the 'SpaceObjects_XFiles.txt' file located on the main campaign. (This is usually modders error and not the original game).

It was the original game. I finally just reinstalled everything and the error went away. The strange thing was that the file it was referencing did exist where it was claiming that it couldn't find it.
