Planet Values: How to get more control on galaxy creation? |
I'd like to edit planet values such that high values (of, say, 80% or larger) to be fairly rare, and to make values of >150 possible. The idea is to make mining planets a bit more pronounced and increase their tactical significance. This also makes the homeworld more valuable, especially once the monoliths come into play.
As a whole, I'd like to get some ideas for decreasing the clutter of planets. I dare say that 10 planets ought to be the maximum in a solar system, with this value being much lower for binary, trinary, and so on systems.

Kwok, is that true? I was under the impression in reading through the scripts that there appears to be a way to manipulate resources using "set" or "assign". There are lines in the script used by the AI to determine the type of colony that calls forth these space object attributes. If they can be called can you not change them or does it reset due to the planet size file?

Re: Planet Values: How to get more control on galaxy creation?
I was speaking from a random map generation perspective.
However, it would be possible to script a one-time run function that could reset the values in a scheme as mentioned above.

Limiting the number of planets in a system can be tweaked in the "systemtype" file per system Type

Re: Planet Values: How to get more control on galaxy creation?
There's no way to control the resource value of planets beyond specifying the min and max resource value.
However, with the next patch you'll be able to use the new map compiler to make a program or script to make .map files that can be setup to do exactly what you want.
