kamikaze Craft worthless? > is 'collision' broke? |

i htought iread an OLD post that type wasn't much good for now...
I just got "rammed" by a kamikaze ship-
Nothing happening.
i was trying to borad, made a foolish error, and expectedto pay for it.
I got away with it on account of a CHEESE win?
i understand alot is being worked on
but if that is the case
AT LEAST MAKE THE STUPID AI QUIT BULIDING KAMIKAZE SHIPS!
Re: kamikaze Craft worthless? > is 'collision' broke?
Ramming does work, but its a bit finicky at times.
Re: kamikaze Craft worthless? > is 'collision' broke?
Don't need to sim; I'm using kamikaze fighters in a PBW game and they appear to work fine.
Re: kamikaze Craft worthless? > is 'collision' broke?
FYI badgers information I use fusion missiles for taking out planet based targets in places which will need extensive Kzin forming any way. My spies tell me he lives in a desert it being a radioactive glassy desert makes no real difference as the lack of (live) badger/s is all that’s required. I would also not waste one of my state of the art light cruisers on a mere badger
I have never seen the behaviour Badger discribes though I have seen more manuverable ships dodge slower ships attemts to ram perhaps thats what he's seen
Re: kamikaze Craft worthless? > is 'collision' broke?
Simmed it, CL rammed a base just fine. As I said, its finicky; I think sometimes they "miss" but don't realize it, but most of the time it appears to work..
I presume from your first post the ship is using the kamikaze strategy and is being run by the AI? Player-ordered rams are a lot less reliable for some weird reason.

Re: kamikaze Craft worthless? > is 'collision' broke?
Not that I noticed but lighter ships raming heavyer ones with few or no warheads dont do huge amounts of damage and may even bounce off of shields. I have rammed ships in desperation and found it does work but its not a reliable or sound tactic
We KZIN prefer our Badgers cooked at range with energy weapons less likly to damage the valuable pelts.
