what are the advantages of the organic tech. ?

I play Balance Mod, and there Organic have reduced maintaince cost.
and I agree with ^^^
Imo main advantage of organic are:
Using organic resources so cost is distributed -> faster building things
Org. Armor
Ordonance vats
population boosting facilities
I don't consider org. weapons worth researching in BM (et least when looking on low tech versions and comparing them with similar "normal" weapons.
Eg. with lvl3 org. weapons i chosed to use lvl1 DU cannon and lvl1 CSM
lvl1 DU - 20-25 dmg, range 80
lvl3 Electric Discharge - small damage on max range, max range 48
Plasma charge - better range but stil worse than DU, worse dmg/s/kt
And in high level it seems to me, that Lightning Ray lvl6 (max) is bit better than DU for realy close range, but for enything else is beaten by DU lvl11. And Anti-proton beam is >> LR.

I find the small electric discharg better cos it dose not decrese it's damage with range as other small non ordanace weapons do so when yuo have swarms of fighters you get good damage when they seam to insist at staying at there max range

It makes supplying and keeping your fleet supplied a lot easier. At the higher tech levels the organic races are pretty tough

Low level organic armor regenerates during battle. You need level 20 (in stock) shields before you get the shield regenerator. Then you also need space on your ship for it.

In BM org. weapons do 2 times dmg more vs shields.

I can think of sevral advantages of organic tech
unique components like organic armour, ordance vats , cloning vats, etc
good weapons like the electric discharge
and the fact that these use mainly organics as custruction parts
example your space yard produces 2000 min 2000 org and 2000 rad if youe ship takes 3000,500,500 it will take 2 turns but if you make a part organic ship 2000,2000,500 it will take only 1 turn
