Planetary Shield Generators do not prevent troop landings

I'm playing a v1.25 game with 1.03 Balance Mod and I was just able to land troops on a planet with a 0% damaged Planetary Shield Generator. Anyone else encountered this?

There are two sorts of planetary shield generators one obtained from a relic tech called Massive planetary shielding which works like a ships shields but on a whole planet. The other Gravitational shields Gained from planetary defences only protects against planet destroying weapons in case of the planetary one or stellar manipulations in the case of the system one

Massive planetary shielding may protect against landings, never been able to test it, but neither of the gravitational shields will

Looking over the description of the MPSG, it does not state that it would prevent landings. The PSG only states that it prevents planet destroying weapons from working. Would be nice if the MPSG did prevent landings but that would take one heck of a bombardment force to bring down that shield.

This was the regular planetary shielding, not massive, not system. I had just assumed it would prevent troop landings, I guess not.

This isn't too surprising. In SE:IV, planetary shielding didn't stop troop landings either.

Consider this - the Empire never shielded the generator on Endor, either. You would think that upper management would have caught that little detail and prevented the pitiful Rebel Alliance from ruining one of the greatest construction projects ever. I weep for the contractors and subcontractors on that job that perished.

It sort of makes sense, as Sinapus stated, it never stopped it before.

I just assumed you dropped through the energy field of a shield since you had these huge massive objects just piercing right through - they are not small lowly pieces of torpedo ordinance, these are troops being dropped.

It's also possible that the shielded areas are just around inhabited areas and do not cover the whole planet, which provides suitable landing space for troops etc.

It's ok though that it works that way. Anything that discourages glassing in favour of planet invasion is fine by me.

Kwok has a point. I only drop troops when it is a population with whom I once had an alliance and then deemed no longer worthy of friendship because they were lagging behind on the useful factor.

I usually just wipe out a planet. Never thought to drop troops all the time. Seems like a better thing to do. Going to use this startgey.
