How well does the game run under Vista?
Re: Vista Support
I change my pc next week... it comes with vista, but I think I will install XP on it... or maybe vista is better?

Re: Vista Support
Yes stick to XP. Vista is for all intents a purposes, CRAP!
Why retailers force a brand new OS on people is beyond me... I think I'll skip Vista(DirectX 10 be damned!), hopefully the OS after this will be a step in the right direction. Vista seems to be an OS tailored to those who have no clue what the frack they are doing on their PCs, I mean does any decent PC/security literate person need Vista's 'security features'?

Re: Vista Support
I speak with my PC Vendor for the possibility to take another version of XP instead Vista with the new PC, but he said that for "strange reason" Microsoft send immediately Vista, but if you want a new copy of XP, you have to wait LOOOOOOOOONG!
Re: Vista Support
Don't listen to all the Micro$oft Haters. They just want to turn yet another thread into a Micro$oft bashfest.
I have Vista Home Premium ( 32 bit version ) and the game runs perfectly.
Vista has many nice improvements over XP. It is not worth upgrading an existing PC, but it is nice on a new PC.

Re: Vista Support
I personnally will hold off until I am forced to use vista. hopefully by then most of the problems with it will be sorted out!
In my opinion MS seems to make something good and then screw it up when they try and improve it.
I'll give you my experience...Win 95 worked well...Win 98 sucked...lots of blue screen crashes...XP works fine for me...no strange messages, no real windows type crashes, I'm happy with it...My god happy with XP...from what I've heard so far about Vista is there are still lots of hardware and programs that just don't surport it yet
And not to mention the strange and greedy price differences for the US and Europe...$100 is NOT 100 pounds...damn that pound sign...where did it go?
Just a thought btw the first copies of Windows were free...shouldn't it have stayed that way?
Re: Vista Support
As far as I am aware and appart from the issue with the Missing Dll which will be fixed on the next patch I have heard of no problems with Vista and SEV. I have also heard that it does what its suposed to as an OS but like every other MS OS since windows 95 requires a higher spec of system than the last.
I wont be upgrading as I find what I have got does the job I want of it fine. Win 98 for most of my rescue Pc's XP for the networked machines and OS2 for the 486 I program on I have also heard that it seems to have been worked through to the point where it works out of the box beter than any MS OS since DOS 5.0 which to be frank is what an OS should do.
Re: Vista Support
Ok people, I think I can give some info on vista. I have just built a totally new system from ground up, extensive research on the hardware for full vista compatibility. Assembled it all, turned on, came up with everything working, me not even having to install drivers! This is vista 64 bit. So do to my research my hardware was 100% compatible and worked fine. The software, my games, now that is a problem. First, I have not tried SEV yet. I have tried... pacific storm, bf1942, massive asssault and soldiers. None of these work in vista, at least not my vista build. I am not sure what other games will not work but this was 4 out of 8 games I tried. So roughly 50% of the games I tried so far just did not work. I see this as a major problem for me. Sure FSX is going to work and supreme commander works, those are a given but what about all the other great games?? As one can see, I regret going with vista because at this point in time, there are too many games, software and hardware that just does not work. Another problem is the software and hardware manufacturers are not giving much support, not even asus at least not for a minor issue I came across with my onboard sound that they say right on their motherboard box is vista certified. There you go and thats my problems. Best thing for one to do is steer clear of vista until 1-2 years. Just keep away, far away, stay with XP and save the headaches. If you are crazy, go for vista, the 64-bit version as I had, then regret it when many of your games do not work and the developer tells you..."oh, the game was developed before vista has came out."
I have heard that the reason many games are not working is because of nvidias drivers are not fully compatible yet. I don't think this is true but alot of people are claiming this. They say its not vista, its nvidia and their drivers. I hope its true but I don't think so.

Re: Vista Support
my old system died and i had to buy a new one...it came with vista ultimate 64bit...so far it sucks...it says i need a dll which is not supported under vista.
