Stupid HD... This may delay my next IRM version.

Submitted by Fallen Haven on Mon, 2007-01-29 17:28. SE:V MODs

Last week i upgraded to a new, much faster HD. To make installation easier, i had removed the old one (compatibility issues). But now that my new HD is up and running, i'm unable to make the old one work along the new. This mean i can't get the files i had on the old one, and that include the work i did on my mod since the last release.

I guess i will have to start from the last build (ie the one availiable on the net). I will have to look at all the feedback i had to fix it again... On the bright side though, that kind of setback usually make me do it better the second time around...

Understood. One question though: how has Armour been affected by the fix in Emissive Armour?

I assume your old harddrive is not around anymore? Otherwise you could disconnect the new harddrive temporarily to upload the file somewhere then regrab later. Then again, re-doing the same thing a second time does indeed improve implementation. Bah, I ought to know better patience than this...

Just to check for the silly errors, you did remember to change the jumper pin settings? Smiling

My new HD is SATA 2, it need a controller to work with the old one is a ATA, plugged directly on the motherboard. For some reason the computer won't boot with both plugged. SATA 2 drives no longer use master/slave jumpers...

It doesn't seem to have any effect on it, it work as before, if not better.

Ah that's good - that's my main concern dealt with. I can wait in peace now.

Some SATA drives have jumpers which slow them down as apparently SATA drives can come in two speeds and some of the SATA type RAID controllers only handle one of the speeds the slower one. The jumper sets the drive speed to the slower of the two, I had a fight with the PC I put my first SATA Raid array on over this.

Second its possible to get EIDE RAID controllers and they are much more plug and play since they work with the familiar master slave setup and they are better if you only want to add one drive not a pair.

I don't plan on reusing my old HD, it's just too slow and i don't need it's space. I will find a way to get what i left on it but i can work without it for now. I'll check that later, i work today.
