Can't patch version 1.20

not normaly unless you have the steam version when you have to wait for the steam version of the patch which isent out yet. I have not tried it yet being in the middle of a game at the moment

I would drop an e-mail to Aaron as I am sure all the patches are suposed to patch any version to the curent one this sounds like a blooper since 1.00 is the version on the CD and 1.08 is very old being the first patch.

it might work if you uninstaled the game and patched it from 1.00 but I am not convinced since the 1.25 patch is the smallest so far.

You have to reinstall entire game and patch 1.00--->1.25

for me patch 1.25 work only with 1.00

Mine patched the CD version already patched to 1.20 with no problem.

as did mine but it caused problems after which resulted in me backing up all the data files and saves uninstalling and going back to 1.20 where I can play the game I await developments. I will drop MM an e-mail re this when I get a moment as this behaviour is strange

One common cause for patch errors is a registry entry for the game that points to the wrong SE:V directory. This is usually a result of moving the game's folder elsewhere after installation.

Not in this case the game directory is where I installed it but I haven’t checked the registry on this one as my copy of Norton is installed else where. Will have to go hunting for the CD again.

I downloaded the installer from strategyfirst.com but it only installs version 1.20, so I guess I cannot use the patch. Is anyone else in this situation?

I also can not update to 1.25. I got the download version from Strategy First, and can only get the 1.20 version. It does not allow me to patch.

If you acquired your game via a BT source, then that just might be your problem right there.

I contacted tech support and a new version of the patch will be coming next week that is compatible with the download version of se5.

I patched 1.20 to 1.25 with no problems. Just a general thought though is that I wished game companies in gemeral didn't have to patch PC games so much. I understand that PC are all different and specs and blah, blah, blah, and the epic scope of the game. But sheesh 1 patch after the other after the other. I guess I should just be glad the developer continues to improve on the game.

Aaron has a good history of fixing the problems with his game as soon as he can. He tends to wait a month or two between patches though.

I've the same problem with the downloaded version of SE5, the 1.20, the patch tell me the version is bad like for the comment #2 :-/

Any news about this problem ? An updated patch installer will be released soon I hope !

Just re-install 1.00 and patch that. Most likely your registry entry got screwed up, and until that's fixed no patch will work.

I got an email from Aaron yesterday and he said that they should release a patch for the download version this week (hopefully today).

And for everybody saying to re-install 1.00, the download version from Strategy First (NOT the steam version) is 1.20 so there's no way to go back to version 1.00.

Or just plain reinstall, then? I suppose its possible SFI goofed when they were putting together the updated installer..
