Map Editor?

Submitted by tbear1997 on Sat, 2007-01-27 15:50. Space Empires V General

Is there a map editor available for Space Empires V? And if so, has anyone generated a map of the Sol system? I'd like to play a "somewhat realistic" game, with my Terran race starting in the Sol system.

If someone does have such a map, how do you set it up so that the map is used in your game and you're empire starts on the third planet of the Sol system?

Just curious

There's no map editor yet.

OK, is there a Sol system built into the stock game or the Balance Mod?

Not that I know of it is possible to edit the system names file but what system is called what is essentially random and generated when the map is created. It is quite possible to choose start points for major empires but not yet to determine which empire goes where or adjust the content of any system exactly

Concur. You can edit the stellarobjects file to have a system that fits Sol's layout but I am not sure you can place your Terran race there.

Make sure to use the specified location for specific system option in quadranttypes.txt.

You could set the sol system as a starting location, then keep restarting until you get to be there. Eye-wink Save the game setup and map so you have a minimal amount of effort involved in restarting.
