Ground Combat mod 2.01b now ready for download

Version 2.01 beta (26 January 2007)

1. Changed - better sound effects for MGs
2. Changed - tweaked resource costs for field guns
3. Fixed - new unit types working correctly now
4. Changed - increased population resistance to orbital bombardment
5. Added - Infantry units in ships' cargo defend against boarding attacks (game code not implemented)
6. Added - AI will now design new unit types

Still To Do:
1. Infantry and Artillery models for all races. Any volunteers?
2. Fix AI design bug whereby illegal components are added (this is not game-breaking).

Will have to watch this one as the interrelated Mod has by making bombardment less damaging has given me a tase for ground combat

Yes, with a bit of work. The AI scripts are included in the zip file and both scripts and data files have lots of commenting about what I changed. There should be no real problem merging the text files. Also note that some of the weapon components are designed for stock - they'll need to be tweaked to make them more balance mod-ish.

EDIT: Now that I come to think of it, I'm not sure if there are all that many comments in the current published version. Hmm. The current version I'm working on (2.03) definately has comments, but isn't really ready for general release just yet.
