First time playing, need a little assistance please

Submitted by Todd77 on Wed, 2007-01-17 15:25. Space Empires V FAQs

Well, Im just starting out trying to create the galaxy. I see that with Quickstart, I have no options, but it seems the only way to create a game with the built-in races. If I Start a game and customize the galaxy the way I want, do I have to create my own races? How can I add in the built-in ones? Can I choose one of these races or do I have to create a custom one for myself and for each of my opponents. Also, how do I view the traits for the built-in races? I cant see where to find their characteristis (+20 research, -20 farming) etc.

bit long winded

Start a quick start game with every race and save the empire on the first turn, need only to do it with the races you like really. Then start a standard game and import them into it. To view there abilities use the edit empire option in the game set up standard game set up process.

If any one is interested I would be happy to save the relevant .emp files and have they put some where people can get to them.

Have all the basic .emp files saved and am going to try to upload them here as a zip folder which you should be able to unzip into the empires folder and use. They are set up for a quick start game so if you want to change that you will need to edit them in the set up

Hope that helps will post a new thread when I have done the up loading

Mod Designer

Won't work

Submitted by Phoenix-D on Wed, 2007-01-17 23:10.

If your mod adds new racial traits, that won't work. Stock .emps only work for mods that don't modify the empire creation options (racial traits, governments, planet types, etc).

will work

Will work if I create a set using the interrelated mod and that wont take any more work than creating the stock set

Another question

Submitted by Todd77 on Thu, 2007-01-18 17:39.

I started my first game, and when I hit End turn for the first time, I got a dialog box saying something like "Emperor So-and-So, enter your password". I didnt know what was going on, I hit cancel and the game jumped back to the main menu. What is this all about?

how do you turn multiplayer

Submitted by Todd77 on Thu, 2007-01-18 18:33.

how do you turn multiplayer on or off? Theres no choice like that in the multiplayer submenu. I created another game and it worked this time. I made sure only my custom race was not AI.

It seems like even though I saved all the empires at 0 research, with no password, and controlled by AI, they are reset to default and have password protection on them again

When you created your empire

When you created your empire you put a password in the file. Next empire you make don't fill in the password slot.
