dumb noob question bout sphereworlds

Jagzeplin's picture
Submitted by Jagzeplin on Tue, 2007-01-09 18:11. Space Empires V General

how do u get those hyperdense cables and plating to the system u anna make a sphere world in if they are 2ooo kt and the max hull pace is 1800? i thout maybe u had to make a base with them but that seems kinda retarded. perhaps theres something obvious im overlooking....
edit-oh and how do i delete my earlier post cuz no1 answered it so its just wasting space
edit2- oh yea the reason i thot the max ship space was 1800 might be cuz this was before i changed the max organic baseship lvl to 6

building sphere worlds & ring worlds

Submitted by evilginger on Tue, 2007-01-09 18:45.

You have to build them on site with a construction ship and there is a size of ship which will fit these components in is a Base ship really as though base ships can move they are very slow. You need to build one base ship per component by the way and all of them have to be in the same sector when you set off the core component. All the base ships will be destroyed in the process. The sector to build in is one as close to the star as possible

Further Clarification Please

Could you make the components on base designs and build the bases at the site of the planet instead of base ships? No reason to waste resources on the specific needs that baseships have that bases do not if you can. I guess I just need to know if the components must be on baseships or if they can be on bases as well, bases built by a construction ship at the location?

I haven't quite got it

Submitted by malefic on Wed, 2007-01-10 02:25.

I haven't quite got it figured out myself but from what I can tell you need to do the following if you are playing Balance 1.01

build 10 Starbases with Cables then 10 Starbases with plates all on the exact same spot that is within 6 sectors of the sun. Then you need to make a baseship or dreadnought (I would recommend baseship) built somewhere with a generator on it. Then you need to run that base ship over to the stock of cables and plates you built and activate the generator.

I haven't put this into action yet as I just made the baseships with the generators so I am about 5 turns away from finding out if I am right. If I am and no one mentions how to do it before wednesday evening I should hopefully have gotten it figured out by then.. but for now I must sleeep

Bases or base ships it just

Submitted by Rilo57 on Wed, 2007-01-10 11:04.

Bases or base ships it just matters what the component size is and how much kt the ship or base can handle. This can be easily modded. I haven't made one in SEV, but in SEIV I made a couple. I do think this is way to far out on the tech tree. A sphere world would have to be your goal from the very start...

I did start a game once where I gave a huge tech starting bonus and chose all stellar tech, but even then the AI choose all weapon and ship tech and blew me away... It did help in balancing the AI a little.

SEV, more than a feeling.
