The day after

Submitted by richie on Wed, 2007-01-03 19:13. Space Empires V General

So I've destroyed last enemy ship and occupied his last colony. I've lost the contact with him, but strangely he isn't out of the game?
I've noticed that the population on the planet I landed on, although loyal (pacified by my ground troops garrisons) are still marked by his banner. Even more, I'm getting his race bonuses there. Is this normal?
On the other hand his race immigrants on my new colonies (founded by me) are marked by my flag and don't get any of his race bonuses.

Very Strange

That is odd behaviour. If you're in control of his colony, it should act like any other colony of yours where his race is located. I've never heard of this bug before, you should send the save file to along with a description of what's going on.

I had something happen like

Submitted by Rilo57 on Wed, 2007-01-03 22:20.

I had something happen like this, in my game I took over with troop the last colony and then later on (several turns later) i noticed that there was now two types of inhabitants. I can't remember the specifics of what told me there were two different types of inhabitants, it was something like: his race but my banner with his race and his banner (but there wasn't any fighting on the planet). Like I said this was a long time ago and can't remeber the specifics.

SEV, more than a feeling.

Assimilation?

Yes I got it too. Come to think about it - what purpose has "Foreign population assimilation" parameter?? And I got extra 5% penalty of it because of the gov type. Maybe this is it? Maybe conquered species need time (how much??) to be assimilated? Which is, in my particular game, something I wouldn't really want them to do Smiling Their society originally has nice 15% research bonus, which still applies to every conquered alien colony although this time as a planet bonus. But only conquered colonies... when they live in my colony, under my original banner, bonus is gone. Really strange. The only reason I'd want them to assimilate is (probably) the defeated empire would definitely perish (now is still listed when I load the game)

BTW, I'm playing BM 1.01 if that makes any difference

Strike-breakers?? :)

Submitted by richie on Thu, 2007-01-04 19:43.

I've just found out something funny.
If we have problem with occupied (unassimilated) population, let's drop there with transport ship with some assimilated colonists of this race on board. Working like a charm: immediate jubilant with 100% loyalty of whole population Laughing out loud
I really don't suppose it was intended, but imagine yourself: whole planet is rioting, all factories on strike and suddenly... freighters are landing with milions of the same species onboard but fanatically addicted to our government. While they start working in abandoned factories the rioting mob is looking in fascination: "hell, maybe this occupants ain't so bad after all. No, in fact they must be wonderful! Let's get back to work"

More like NKWD, not strike-breakers

Submitted by richie on Fri, 2007-01-05 04:51.

Ok, another update... so dropping assimilated colonists pacifies a planet perfectly. But picking them up returns it to the previous (rebelious) state! So, they are not strike-breakers. They are army of your secret police enforcing aliens loyality and official jubilant attitude.

...and in fact such feature does have a sense.
