Inrease number of starsytems?

I have read that it is possible to increase the overall number of systems to 255,
since im currently only playing with about 100 systems that would surely make the game
somewhat a challenge maybe, even without a single fight i usually control about 20 star systems which makes me way too overpowered for any oposition.

Any info on that would be greatly apreciated.

Settings.txt

There are two values to change in settings.txt (in data folder) - the number of max systems and the number of max systems in a large quadrant. Changing both to 255 should work fine.

Not enough names

SystemNames.txt has only 112 or so names in it. Going above this number causes system names to become blank. There may be a longer list of names available somewhere, or you could just copy the entire list over again, doubling the number of available names.

I added a list of major

I added a list of major constellations and named stars to it and came up with a list of about 270/280 odd stars instead. So they all get named.

I already figured out the names problem, but the real problem is the major slowdown of the game with so (many) systems after 30+ turns, even i have a very powerful pc though. Whats the highest number you where able to maintain a decent turn rate, and where can i get your names list?

255 system in game

Played super slow on my system. I think its mostly lack of optimization in the core game code.

Off topic here, but I really should have waited longer to get this game. Consider the 95 revision levels in SE IV.....
