Using Unresearched Intel Projects

AngleWyrm's picture

In the Intelligence section, click the popup menu to select a project to focus on against an empire. The list is ten projects long, even though I have researched only two projects.

What happens if I pick one that I haven't researched? Does it just secretly say "tee hee"?

The popup window should only list projects that I can actually use, and possibly even show my current level of ability.

I don't think you actually

I don't think you actually have to research them; it's just that once you do, you get bonuses when you use them.

Intel Projects

Submitted by tmcc on Thu, 2006-09-28 11:54.

I ahve not seen the ability to actually steal technology as an intel project. This seems like an obvious choice. In games I have stolen ship designs and other empire information, but never any technology.

I've stolen tech

Submitted by AngleWyrm on Mon, 2006-10-02 20:27.

In my last game, when I had the setting "Sabotage - Empire Wide" my spies stole two levels of armor, and Rock Colonization (I was a Gas Planet Native) from the enemy.

The text says that technology theft comes during "Espianage - Empire Wide"; I think it's a bug and you should set it to "Sabotage - Empire Wide" if you want to steal technology.

No Colony Tech Restriction in Balance Mod

Submitted by Captain Kwok on Tue, 2006-10-03 10:16.

No. I tried to keep things stock-like so there's no advanced modding tricks etc. I did reduce colonization back to 1 level though since it wasn't really worthwhile to research otherwise.

This particular issue is more of an imbalance in intel then anything else.
