[1.20] Unable to login to Game Master at all. |
Hi, I am unable to login to game master at all. I have the Steam version, recently updated to 1.20. We have a game of eight players going with 1.17, and once updated to 1.20, execution fails with the PBW system. Not only that, but when I create a brand new game with brand new empires and attempt to login to game master, it doesn't allow me to do so. This is a game killing bug, since we can't continue playing unless we can login to game master. I run on safe mode, with low graphics settings and D3D H&L. 1024x768, and I have an integrated graphics card on an HP NC4000 laptop with an ATI Radeon IGP 340M graphics chip.
Here is a sample brand new game I just created. The game master password is: master

It is called SDN SEV break-in game on PBW and is on turn seventeen. We've been playing since the first 1.08 patch.
At least one other player also using the steam version is unable to login to the game master and process the turn. My non-steam players cannot login to master as well. As it is impossible for steam users to install older patches, we request an immediate redress of these problems.
Also I am wondering whether Aaron will continue to maintain backwards compatibility with all future patches. 1.20 claims to be backwards compatible and I hope it is and all future patches continue to be so. The crux of the problem is PBW games last months on months, turns being spaced out 48 hours. If we're on turn 17 then that's one and a half months worth of playing time. If a patch ever breaks saved games, it is fatal and incredibly aggravating. Imagine being on turn 100, nearly seven months of real life time, and all of a sudden a new patch comes out. Steam _does not_ allow us to back patch. Therefore I request that an extra effort be made to make all patches backwards compatible with each other from now on. If not, at the very least Steam should allow installation of older versions. It does not allow us to play without updating, so every patch is a potential game killer, possibly destroying months of gaming time.
Anyway we hope that Malfador addresses these problems immediately. We've been playing SE for awhile, and already one or two players have dropped out due to bugs. I would hate to lose any more players.
Regards,
