Stealth/cloak vs. the AI?

Submitted by javaslinger on Tue, 2006-12-19 19:50. Space Empires V General

Just wondering if things like stealth armor and cloaking are effective against the AI or is it all knowing?

Thanks,

Javaslinger

AI not All Knowing

Submitted by Omnius on Wed, 2006-12-20 10:11.

I've found that stealth armor and cloaking helps my ships against the AI's. The AI's are too dumb to ever build tachyon sensors to detect cloaked ships. I find it fun to sometimes sneak cloaked ships into AI systems then decloak next to a poorly defended AI planet and trash the planet, then cloak and sneak off. I like to put one of each type of spiffy armor on ships as they give some nifty defensive bonuses. While the AI might have the same choices we have it does not make good choices for armor, shields or cloaking techs. I can't remember ever seeing a cloaked AI ship.

No AI Cloaking

The AI minister responsible for cloaking hasn't been implemented in the scripts yet. I was going to put together for the BM until MM gets a chance to implement something himself.
