Space Empires V release date is October 5, 2006?

Hmm, is there some truth to this or did someone at Gamestop/EB pull it out of their posterior to fill in a database field?

if 5.10. is the release-date, the guys at MM are quick with bugfixing. Congratulations !

I think some posterior action is at work here since strategy first (the publishers ) are still saying 16/10/06 (dd/mm/yy)

Strategy First and Malfador are notoriously slow at updating their websites, though... remember how long it said "Winter 2006"?

Yes, it has been posted that it went gold on Sept 8th by Warmaster - although a message of some sort on either MM's site or SFI's site would be nice.

MM's web site still says Winter 2006 release. Other than ebgames.com I have seen no indication of an October 5th release.

Personally, I would like them to fix some things before releasing the game. Fewer patches and fixes the better.

On the front page of MM one of the news articles explains why it says winter.

So don't worry about that.

Also I would go off Strategy Firsts release date, they're still saying the 16/10. That 5th date has come off some other 3rd party reviewers.

But as the date keeps changing we can hope it comes out earlier.

I just called the local EB games here in Chicago to preorder my copy of Space Empires 5, and the salesman says the date they have on SE5 is October 17, 2006. This is much more in line with the dates being listed by Strategy First, so I think it's pretty plausible.

One thing I do recommend is that if you're planning on buying SE5 in a local store like EB games, you'll want to preorder it. Otherwise, they won't order enough and sell out and you'll be out of luck for a while (especially if you're like me and can't stand the idea of waiting a few more days!). Since SE5 is not a main stream game, they only tend to order two or three copies per store, so it's easy for them to sell out.

If EB is at the 17th then GameStop would be the same since GameStop bought EB awhile back.

Why do they the 5th on their website and the 17th at their stores. Will they actually ship on the 5th via internet purchase but not show up in the store until the 17th??

My guess is the later time frame (17th) would be the date for everything, if there is various ways to get the game.

If they are taking pre-orders they HAVE to give a date.

Often they pull said date out of their asses. Still, its sad that this close to the presumed release and we don't know for sure.

If you go to the site you will see that the PRE-RELEASE ships on the 5th. A pre-release is by definition not the release version. Looks more like a pre order to me.

Best to hold it back just in case - worst case, you have more money to spend when SE5 does come out

I'm one of those peeps who lives in a country that I'm sure wont be getting the box set in stores. Anyone know if the buy on line will be up on the same day as it comes out in the stores? Coz I'd hate to think I'll get this game l8!!!
