Bugs: Updated ship names, or ship types.

Submitted by Ratha on Fri, 2006-12-08 23:51. Space Empires V General

Have any of you guys noticed issues with the names of ships not updating after you update them. If you rename a ship once, it accepts the name, but dosnt update the name when you click on the ship. However if you rename it twice, it updates properly.

Just the same if you edit a ship type (ie change it from fighter to colony ship) it dosnt update until you close the ship editing menu and then re-open it.

I think there are a lot of these GUI sorts of bugs that dont update after being changed.. i cant pick them all out, but i have noticed a lot of data that 'didnt seem right' and sometimes its hard to tell if it really is correct.

I noticed that sometimes

I noticed that sometimes when you update it first time it add a huge number like if you called it "Begimoth" it makes it "Begimoth 7644555" ond the first update and then on the second continue properly "Begimoth 7644555 I" , "Begimoth 7644555 II" etc ...
And sometimes work properly from the beginning "Begimoth I" , "Begimoth II" ...

I think it somehow related to not selecting ship type but can' be sure...

This used to be the case in 1.13 and before and still is in the demo if you called a ship the DAGGER the first auto upgrade was called the DAGGER 7644555 however if the first version was called the DAGGER I then the next one would be the DAGGER II and so on But I have not seen this since I patched the game to version 1.17. If your game is patched to 1.17 then post a save game to the issues forum here. One thing which crosses my mind if you are using V1.17 are you running a save game created by an earlier version by any chance

Zip up the save game

Zip up the saved game and attach it to an e-mail at SE5 at MM and post the issue on the issues forum. Though I would also suggest starting a fresh game to see if it’s not an artefact form the old save

Artifacts suck

Subject says it all... backward compatability is a PITA.

It's still there

This still happens in 1.17, I tested by creating a fresh game. I'll test more to see if this only happens to specific ship or unit design.

So here is what I

Submitted by arkcheung on Thu, 2006-12-14 09:51.

So here is what I found:

Game Version: 1.17
Bug Report:

The Upgraded ship/unit name appears to be a big number like "7644555" or some other random numbers ONLY when you changed the autocompleted component(s). If you are only using autocompleted design then this won't happen.

Are we supposed to only use the autocompleted design? Of course NOooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Please fix it.

Thanks.
