Domed Colonies Stay Domed, After Atmospheric Conversion?

Submitted by Nazgaull on Sun, 2006-12-03 17:23. Space Empires V General

Ok so I colonized a world that is a fairly large sized world and should be able top support more space in its construction queue.

Planets of its size usually support up to 15,000KT of facility space, but this one only supported up to 3000KT; because when I originally colonized it, I had to build a Domed Colony,

So, I placed an Atmospheric Converter on the planet, and I have since altered the atmosphere to an "optimum" state for my people and got a message telling me that the atmosphere has been converted as much as it can be...

So; I thought this would allow more of my people onto the planet and let me build without Domes, but the colony remains a Domed Colony with only 3000KT of facility space.

How do I change that?

I should add... that my Race is the only Race living on this particular planet, but its also my first time trying out the Atmospheric Conversion Facility...

Climate Control

Are you sure that you aren't talking about climate control, which makes the planet conditions optimal, but does not change the atmosphere. It is the atmosphere which depends on whether the planet is domed, not the conditions.

Hmmm.. ok I think you're

Hmmm.. ok I think you're right.

Its the Climate Control Facility, its description says:

"Atmospheric conditioning and manipulation improve the conditions of the planet"

That was somewhat misleading to me, "atmospheric conditioning" .. I thought it was supposed to change the atmosphere (over time) so I could colonize without a Dome.

Is there a facility that does this?

Ahhh... guess I need to research a little further into my Planetary Utilization Tech Tree then.

Thanks!

Very nice - someone grateful and courteous enough to say 'thanks.' Makes me feel good. Smiling
