Can't Say "Thanks"???????

Submitted by Cosmic Marvel on Sun, 2006-12-03 00:10. Space Empires V General

I've read through numerous threads here and have seen a LOT of people ask questions and get good answers. But the thing is, there's a HUGE number of times that the original poster never takes the trouble to say a simple 'thank you' for the help they received.

What have we got here - a bunch of totally spoiled brat 6-year-old children??????????

Sheesh!!!!

Some posts are debates as much as they are requests, even if the title suggests otherwise. I equally see people saying thanks too... but does it warrant its own thread for debate?

Additionally some people post then never come back, some people post to vent their frustrations, take the answer and run back to fix a bug which they were not expecting, a thread may go off topic and make a thank you rather redundant, the original poster may not be able to reply immediately etc.

I think your post is somewhat harsh.

(On a lighter note there is a small pun in my post Eye-wink)

With all due respect, Maran, you seem to be missing the point. (And I caught your pun - nice!Eye-wink

I'm not talking about debates, etc. Sure - there are plenty of those. I was addressing ONLY those cases where a question was clearly asked and an answer was just as clearly provided. Again - ONLY those posts.

It's just that this modern age of instant gratification has resulted in a tremendous number of people (most of them pretty young) that seem to be very lacking in common courtesy. Take it as harsh, if you wish, but I believe it to be accurate. It takes little effort to say 'thanks' when someone has done a favor. After all, no one is FORCED to be helpful and I feel kindness should be acknowledged, that's all.
