Center View on Active Hex when Spacebar Pressed

Submitted by gsol69 on Thu, 2006-11-30 15:32. Space Empires V General

Great game, but please consider changing the code to center on the active hex / ship when the spacebar is pressed. The space bar brings up the next ships star system, but than you have to search around for the hex in which your ship is located, a real pain for the number of times that function needs to be performed the game. Keep up the great work!

uhm...why should it center

uhm...why should it center on the ships hex?
the ship is marked as active, the hex has a white line around it and you see your flag-symbol above it. shouldn´t be too hard to find it.

I think it should center.

I think it should center. Why should I have to spend extra time looking for the unit I just selected?

Center in 2D mode

Submitted by gsol69 on Fri, 2006-12-01 11:06.

I use the 2D view to get a top down view of the system, and when you select the next ship via spacebar, the next system view populates with new planets & ships, but stays in the same location as the prvious system you were viewing. I do not scroll back all of the way to view the entire system because I enjoy some level of detail, so when I select a new ship via spacebar, I have to scroll around the snew ystem looking for the active hex. Centering the view on the active hex is the logical thing to do when the spacebar is pressed.

Try it a few times -- it is VERY hard to find the ship!

Try going to the next ship, having it switch systems, then try and search the entire cluttered system ('cause this is your homesystem, lots of clutter) to try and find the one ship you have to do something with.

Ouch.
