Anyone else get extreme lag with the ship report menu?

I was wondering if I'm the only one who is affected by this, as it makes checking out enemy ships during combat a huge headache.

I also noticed it shows wrong icons most of the time for the components.

Is this a bug or just me? Sad

btw I started out with everything in my race 'byte' themed but just gave up after having to create so many ships/units/planets names, in case you were wondering...

I usually experience a little lag on just about all the menus. My system is mid-range so it really shouldn't.

Slow menus also

Submitted by Thy Reaper on Sat, 2006-11-25 13:48.

I also get slow downs on all menus, and my computer is mid-high end. Without any menus up, I get about 35 FPS, but with menus up that drops to about 20 FPS. If I run in safe video memory mode it gets worse, dropping to 5 FPS or worse the whole time.

The biggest scenes in games like HL2 and Civ IV take me down to 40-50 FPS, and normally run well over 60 FPS, so I don't know why a few models and 2D pictures are killing my gameplay.

I'm not a programmer, but perhaps the problem lies in the game still rendering the 3D system objects that are masked behind the 2D menu elements? Something about occlusion. I think I remember ATi drivers having a rendering option that can let you tell. *lemmie check*
