Category:bug

Attachment:Savegame.rar (1.17 MB)

Description

I am not sure what has happened here but I have sudenly had some upgraded ships lose half their speed.

I have upgraded a ship to a new version using Quantum Engines 5 rather than QE1, I have also added to this ship a solar sail (only signifcant change other than updating older techs) I have the racail speed bonus as well, and my Crusier design has gone from having speed 16 to having speed 8.

However for some bizarre reason this isn't even consistant, as a couple of ships still has speed 16 when upgraded.

I have included a game save where you can see this, if you look at the planet Yurka III, you will see 2 ships there. They have both been upgraded to Rock Hurler XI (I think they had both been upgraded from VI).

I am not sure which files you need so have zipped all the relevant files.

fix of sorts

Submitted by cordas on Fri, 2006-11-24 12:43.

Have found a fix for this of sorts..... When you see a ship that has speed 8 when it should be faster save and exit the game, then reload.

This sometimes works and sometimes doesn't *GRRR*

half speed ships after upgrade

Submitted by RBcrusher on Fri, 2006-12-01 22:22.

I've only noticed the problem when I upgrade ships in which the crew quarters + life support are upgraded. Until repaired the ship has 0 speed which is normal, but when repaired at a planet that has no native (my race) population, i.e. a captured planet with no native migrants ( I don't think air type matters ), then the crew will be 0 and thus the ship has half movement. The workaround is to land some native pop. temorarily on the planet and then move the affected ships away then back to the planet, then they have full crews.

I have experinced this

Submitted by cordas on Sat, 2006-12-02 06:01.

I have experinced this problem when upgrading ships at planets that contain only my native population, and i have had ships upgrade correctly where there been none of my population, so I am not sure this is the problem.

However I think you might be onto something about upgrading crew quaters and or life support. As i think this has been involved in most of the occasions it has gone wrong.
