Finally =)

Submitted by Zohar on Tue, 2006-11-21 13:18. Space Empires V General

Don't know about anyone else, but 1.17 seemed to fix MOST of the issues I had, most notably the turn processing hang.

I've been playing the same game for probably over 7 hours (This game is like crack when it works right) and have had only one problem (will explain later). I've been having blast taking over the galaxy =D. I play Balance Mod V0.98, currently playing in a large system w/ 8 computers (I don't like the # of comps to get past 11, then I feel it's too cluttered). I love the organic tech tree, it's a blast! Hell, everything is fun so far =D.

Just wanted to give a big thank you to Aaron for developing this game. I know it was a very rocky start but now the game is mostly playable. You did an amazing job, I hope you didn't get too discouraged by some of the negative things that appeared when the game launched. Keep up the excellent work, I can't wait for the next patch, but to be honest it will be here before I know it because I can actually play!

Sorry for the long post, just a very happy customer now that a lot of the game stopping bugs are fixed. Not saying the game is bug free, it certainly isn't, but it's hella playable and that means a ton to a long time SE fan.

P.S: Game froze once during end of turn processing around turn #8. I reloaded and 5-6 hours later haven't had a problem. Gotta go to class now, but thankfully just to hand in something...then maybe more SEV later =P

Finally!

Submitted by thedude on Tue, 2006-11-21 17:53.

Finally, a nice post extolling the virtues of patch 1.17! I freaking love this patch. For me, this is version 1.0 of the game.

Started a new (stock) game last night...got a slow start...ran into the computers early. Its been a tough battle, but I think I finally have the upper hand. The computer players seem better organized and more challenging, and take less time to take their turns!

Kudos to Aaron and the folks at MM!

I would agree

This always a great big shiny game even if some people couldn’t see the potential behind a few bugs most of which are fixed now and would have been in any event SEIV was like that and I didn’t mind that. SEV is looking like it will end up a definite improvement even on that

I would second the opinion that Aaron is due a hearty vote of thanks for this game and for all the work he has put in perfecting the Space empires series. It’s a labour of love and it shows

FYI the last person who called me a Fanboy is still missing

Beta testers

Submitted by evilginger on Tue, 2006-11-21 18:39.

I think there are some beta testers listed as well, you know the people the Whiners and Whingers don’t thing either existed or did a good job. They deserve some share of it as they did have several orders of magnitude more bugs to deal with than the aforesaid group of pathetic individuals

Well...I'm surprised...and

Well...I'm surprised...and definitely for the better. For once, I log onto this site...and see the game getting the praise it's deserved, rather than bashing from all the whiners.

And...yes, I echo the rest of this post...a hearty thanks to Aaron and all the beta testers!
