What was broke about them before? they converted to an atmosphere you didn't breath?

What's the point of them anyways?

Submitted by raynor on Mon, 2006-11-20 17:34.

In SE IV, my first target was a race that breathed the atmosphere on my largest domed planets so that I could capture those colonists and "undome" those planets. Now, in SEV, you can just establish a migration treaty without going to war.

Given a choice between waiting 30 turns to convert the planet to undomed or either encouraging migration/going to war, I'm definitely not gonna wait 30 turns for the converters.

T'was broke, now t'is

T'was broke, now t'is fixed.

The Atmosphere Modification Plant (lets say AMP) if you changed the forumla so that it would only take say 0.5 years to change an atmosphere, in 1.13 it didn't use to work. It would take many more years instead. Now it works when you want it to.

You mean you didn't want to wait the full 100 turns to change the atmo? you wanted a mere 5 turns? my gosh man, what is wrong with you? Eye-wink

No, they do not stack, each one still takes 100 years to convert the atmosphere so putting 2 on there does nothing.

Yes I do, and the answer is

Submitted by LordHavoc on Tue, 2006-11-21 11:41.

Yes I do, and the answer is no. Only a single facility will work. And in current stock game the Planet Utilisation tech tree stops at 20 or 21. Which gives you lvl 1 Atmospheric Modification Plant.
If you look in facilities.txt the AMP has a calculation that reduces the 10 years down by .5 years per level, down to a minimum of 0.5 years. You need to make a little mod in the techarea.txt to increase the planet utilisation tech tree to stop at 40.
