Member Races

Submitted by aznpdn233 on Mon, 2006-11-20 14:23. Space Empires V FAQs

What exactly are member races? I have conquered entire alien races, but they don't appear under the member races in the empire report screen. Anyways, not that big a deal, just wanted to know.

The tooltip says alien races in your own empire.

I always thought that was when you had messaged a race and told it to surrender, not completly obliterated it... I could be wrong.

I think it is the number of different races that your empire is composed of, either through forcing surrender as Dragagon said, or entering into treaties to allow migration from other empires. (Very useful to "undome" colonies by acquiring races that breathe other atmospheres).

If that's true, then it should appear under member races when I conquer them, and since it doesn't do that, it must be a bug then.

Yep

I just checked with my own game, which so far consists of 4 races breathing 3 atmosphere types, and it does indeed list just my original race. I haven't entered into an alliance yet, so it could be that, but otherwise it does seem to be a bug.

I have never gotten a race to ever surrender, so It could be that. My too does not list any other member races and it's kind of disappointing (I like to see how much interracial unity I have brought to the galaxy). I also forge alliances with the AI and that does not change the member races either. I would pose it to Malfador as a problem, except they have more important things like making the AI stronger.

I wrote that feature off long ago. Lo'n'behold! In my present game I have 3 races listed.

I had migration with 2 other empires, and have since formed an alliance with them. (A mistake - alliances still don't work to my satisfaction.) I can't say if it's due to the presence of the alien population, or due to the alliance, but they are listed now. (1.66/BM1.12) At least they were the last time I looked. I guess it could go away as easily as it came.

I thought member races were part of your empire. You start with one but more migrate over later. A conquered race should count as well.

It would be nice to see this feature finally get included.
