attacking planets. |
This might sound like a stupid question. I am still in the beginning stages of the game. When I try to attack an enemy empire's planets, my ships do nothing. I am attacking with ships that have capital ship missiles and the simple guns. When I run strategic, my ships run away for some reason. can anyone help?

Treaty
You probably have a 'No planet bombardment' treaty with some empire. This stops you from attacking any planets, not just the empire referenced in the treaty.

Planetary damage
I don't see it, but how are planets damaged? I thought theym were damaged by bombarding them.. you know, you could actually put a crater in the planet and over time it would break apart. bam bam bam bam bam bam bam no more planet....
If you want Area of Effect weapons added to SE5, email Aaron and ask him nicely to add them

I like the idea of AOE
I like the idea of AOE weapons in SEV, but I also think that they should abide by the to-hit calculations. If they didn't they would be too overpowered (ultimate drone/fighter killers)
I would allow a little bonus to hit for AOE weapons, say 10% or so. But yeah..AOE definatly needs to be added as a modding option at a later date.

Gotta change mine to be more clear...

Check Strategy
Check your ship's strategy. You might have them set to "don't get hurt" which will make them turn tail. Make sure your attack ships are set to something like "optimal range" so that they get the message to attack. Either that or you might have signed a treaty that prevents attacking planets.
