Shield types |
Does anyone know if it's possible to make a shield that has a given number of points or effectivness against different type of damage. So it works 100% against physical and 50% against beam or so.

Yup
You're going to want to mod damagetypes and andother file, shield types or soemthing like that. I don't know if it allows excess of 100 values, so be careful of that (if you want a shield double-effective against a given damage type, just halve its effectiveness against all others).

another question along these lines
If you have a component with "Weapon Delivery Type Damage Received Modifier Percent" does this stack, or is it a single component effective? Anybody know offhand?

Single only
For balnace reasons, I bet that one is single only...
but there *may* be a way around that. There's a call to "get the number of components" of a given name on a ship. If you use that in the formula you *MAY* get a stackable value, but BE CAREFUL with it, I strongly suspect you'll get weird behaviour. (An alternative is to go to vehicle sizes and add the ability there, and just count the components to get the value, but you'll have to be careful with descriptions).

Different damage effects versus shields...
You can mod this in, but in the opposite way of what you described. DamageTypes.txt allows you to specify what penetration a damage type will have versus a given shield type.
