Q: Planet scanner range

Submitted by Mendel the Indi... on Fri, 2006-11-17 16:55. Space Empires V General

What is the default colony scanner range? Is this affected by facilities on the planet or units in orbit? Is this affected by resources?

I'm in another mineral crunch, and all my colonies with Tachycon Scanner equipped sattelites don't seem to be able to see beyond 2 hexes.

Did you remember to launch the sattelites?

Only deployed units

Planets have a default sensor range of 0, meaning they only see their own sector. This can be changed in the settings.txt file, though, IIRC.

Launching satellites with basic sensors will let your planet see farther, and it should be possible to mod in a sensor facility to do the same thing.
