Medieval: total war 2 till game is fixed

Submitted by darklight128 on Thu, 2006-11-16 13:43. Off-topic & Casual Conversations | Space Empires V General

Ok so the game is bugged to hell and troops dont even move unless u change the dat files. We all know the game will be totally awesome when its finished but like dark n light its not.

I suggest playing TW:medieval 2 I swear to god you wont be disappointed (they got it for dl on steam now) . You`ll be bored of it by next year (only 6 weeks or so away) and then finally se:v will be ready for release.

also check this link out, I think a few of the fanbois on this forum where outside this cinema. Smiling

Medieval 2 TW is kinda lame

Submitted by largedarryl on Thu, 2006-11-16 15:34.

I had played my brothers version of Medieval 2 through the tutorial and started a campaign game. Without being disapointed the game was the same as Rome TW with better graphics. And for me, better graphics are just for show, and can't make a game better. I am sticking with SEV and probably by the time I figure out how to play the game(this is the first SE game I've played) well, all the big bugs will be fixed. The thing with medieval 2 TW is its already been done to death and I get pretty board of playing the same game over again.

    Nothing wrong with that

Submitted by NightGuard on Thu, 2006-11-16 15:35.

If you've decided you'd like to shelve this game until another patch or two is out, good for you. I'm glad you're taking a fairly mature approach to handling this game while it gets some of its issues fully resolved, unlike a couple of rather vocal elements on this board.

I've always been curious about the Total War series, but I've never been a big fan of RTS games. They're usually a little to fast and pull me in too many directions for my gaming preferences. Would I be interested in it if I prefer a slower, more patient kind of game, or will this one just frustrate me like most other RTS out there?

    There isn't too much wrong

Submitted by largedarryl on Thu, 2006-11-16 15:58.

There isn't too much wrong with Medieval 2 TW. If you like the general way that SEV works(the turn-based strategy game with rts combat). The thing with Medieval 2 TW is it is a mix of Civilization for general play and C&C for battles (this is a basic comparison for the turn-based and rts parts).

It is just I played games exactly like this in the mid-90's and now they are just the same game with updated graphics.

Once the Rome Total Realism team mods it to Medieval 2 Total Realism, it'll likely be much better. I loved RTW (almost no bugs, go figure!), and after I stopped playing it I stumbled upon RTR and got totally hooked again for almost another year of playing.

    Same here

    Submitted by ergie272 on Thu, 2006-11-16 16:45.

I loved RTW too (and I still play regulary, modded (TE, RTR, etc), and MTW2 looks like the same to me... with better graphics someone said?. I'd say with a hungrier game engine Eye-wink

The game remains equal, maybe the IA is better, but I can't be sure as I won't buy it until a friend of mine that has bought it tell me it's worth the money.

Not to talk I like more the Roman Empire historical era. The world was bigger, unknown and savage Sticking out tongue

Amazing ignorance shown here.Do you not read previews, reviews? The game is an evolution from the Rome game and is miles better in every way,and has more gameplay features.I lost a whole weekend playing this beauty.

Did someone compare Totalwar battles to C&C? LOL.

Well, maybe, but I don't know the game enough yet, and I generally don't trust the reviews (too many interests out there, and bad experiences nin the past) Someone close to me must show me the game, and then, if I find it valuable, I buy it.

    Anyway , I haven't applied this to SE5... lol

in ME:tw the strategic option was way better than in ME:tw2

just look like a copy of rome with no improvent one bit grafic wise, I run at max in everything and it is still not any better than rome

and as I said the strategy is better in the first, and the troops are beter in the first and the inquisitor is just annoying

    Medieval2 til SE5 fixed

Submitted by alexdatcu on Wed, 2006-12-20 07:53.

Oh yeah, those Inquisitors were annoying til i hired a small army of assassins that keep my leaders and priests from been well done steaks (alive). The religion stuff pissed me off in the beginning but now it is manageable with the assassins so my advise is to get some...

I dont think SE5 will be enjoyable for the next 3 moths, maybe more, so ill stick to other games til they fix it ...

    Suddenly, after the kick on

Submitted by Singularity on Wed, 2006-12-20 08:55.

Suddenly, after the kick on the balls that 1.20 gave, I rescued Rules of Engagement 2 (1993). And I remembered that no manual is available. Anybody knows about?

?? 1.20 gave exactly what it was said it would give, more bug fixes and improvements to UI and how the game ran. It never promised to give any gameplay or AI changes. That said try Kwoks Balance mod, or some of the other mods that are knocking about as they do drasticaly improve these issues.

Well, my only big gripe is

Submitted by Singularity on Wed, 2006-12-20 19:14.

Well, my only big gripe is still that the first and only game in 1.20 crashed on save.

Back on issue... Does anyone know ROE2? I've been looking for a manual for years. Oh, and the one for Breach 3 would be nice, too.
