Can't retreat, unable to set a movement target outside the circle |
If I try to order a ship outside the retreat circle it sets the destination to a spot just inside the circle. The ship will not move past this point and generally gets wasted. This also seems to be affecting the AI as I just ran a simulation in which I disabled the enemy ship's weapons causing it to retreat. It then proceeded to run around the inner edge of the circle endlessly. Anyone else getting this?
Also, cannot retreat into occupied hex
There are two requirements for retreat. First, you must have at least one remaining strategic movement point. Second, one of the hexes on the strategic map must be empty. If your ship meets both of these criteria, then it *should* be able to retreat in a direction corresponding to an empty sector.
Just after the patch, I loaded up a game and *almost* surronded the AI ship. It was quite cool to watch it, very realistically, running around the circle towards the "empty" sector. Because my ships on the strategic map were blocking three or four of the surrounding sectors, the AI ship had to run around the circle. This gave me enough time to catch up with him and do enough damage to slow him down for the kill.
Very cool!

Doesnt seem to work like that for me...
I was desperatly trying to board an enemy carrier ship that constantly ran away when engaged so i utterly surrounded the bugger then attacked with my boarding ships. He fled as per normal and back on the map he was in a square with one of my ships.

If you fleet/ship entered
If you fleet/ship entered the hex and used its last movement point to start the battle, you will not be able to retreat because you have no movement points left.
