Description
at the moment if you chose to upgrade a design all the systems onboard are automatically replaced with the best current This is fine but some times usually for the purposes of economy of resources you don’t want to up grade every thing all at once for example I build a transport at the early stages in the game with max engines and all systems of TL 1 I would like to be able to say just refit the cargo if I say have TL 6 sensors TL 2 in some of the command components TL 6 engines and TL 5 cargo since upgrading the other systems doesn’t really gain you all that much but more cargo space on a freighter does it would also cost less.
The same would go with upgrading the guns on a combat ship or the sensors only on a scout frigate
Would that be possible as I suppose it could be modded but it would be I think a cool feature for the stock game
What I had in mind would be a drop down with a number of options ranging from a total refit to only refiting one component

It would be handy to have such selectable upgrades, as quick and cheap partial upgrades can be desirable sometimes. Perhaps an easier GUI implementation would be to simply: select an existing design, then left click on those of it's components you wish included in the upgrade to highlight them, then click on Upgrade. If none are highlighted then a full upgrade is done. As it is, manually updating a copy in order to preserve some components, like armour or engines, at their existing TL can get tedious. And unlike SE4, only components at the latest TL are available in the palette. Also in the ship/unit design screen it would be nice to be able to select the deck when having an 'active' component as cursor.
