Negative resources |
Hi, new in game and was wondering when i colonize new planet that has lets say 2% output on minerals and even i build many mines there i cant get it in positive production, is it worth colonize these kind of planets? If i have other planet in system that produces more minerals than it can spend does it transport this surplus to other one automatically or do i need to do something?
Thanks in advance!
Yes
All the resources that you produce is sent inn to your "empire wallet" (as long as you have spaceports in the current system) other then that you can have what ever building on your planet.
Yep.
This game is about specialised colonies (that's why you choose what type of colony it will be). You can build a colony with only research centers if you want, but for larger, fully habitable planets it's better to diversify a bit (spaceyard, supply depots, storage). Keep in mind you pay full maintenance for every buildings you have on a planet, regardless that you have the population to run them or not (don't overbuild!).
Oh yeah, when it's the first colony in a system, or the only one that is going to be there, build a spaceport first! You will save yourself a lot of troubles...

It's the maintenance that is crippling you...
The % is the multiplier for the production, so if it's 2%, you will produce next to nothing, no matter what (but you pay full maintenace for the buildings you have on that planet). When planet have low % for ressources, don't try to use them for ressources, use them for other things like research or intelligence. It's normal that some planet have negative ressource production, just make sure you have a spaceport in system and that other planets produce the required ressources...
